DAPL05 – FIRST LEVEL ACADEMIC DEGREE IN SCENOGRAPHY

 

Learning objectives

The courses of study for the achievement of the first level academic diploma of the School of Scenography have the objective of ensuring an adequate mastery of artistic methods and techniques, as well as the acquisition of specific disciplinary and professional skills in order to provide students with knowledge and design and expressive methodologies in the use of the tools of representation and artistic practices, with particular reference to theatrical, television and cinematographic set design, as well as to the techniques of setting up related to advertising communication and window dressing. The School’s courses aim to develop skills in the practice of expressive technological tools, traditional of contemporary times, concerning the use and management of space and the principles of representation. The aim is also to obtain technical knowledge on the use of materials for the realization of projects, land interventions, environmental works, as well as to develop in-depth study and research on artistic and visual languages.


Graduates of the School’s diploma courses must:

  • Have an adequate technical and operational mastery of methods and contents related to the fields of scenography, set-ups, costumes and shows;
  • Possess methodological and critical tools adapted to the acquisition of skills in expressive languages, techniques and the most advanced related technologies;
  • Be able to use effectively at least one language of the European Union, in addition to the mother tongue, in the primary area of competence and for the exchange of general information;
  • Have adequate skills and tools for communication and information management, with IT tools and telematic communications in the specific areas of their competences.

 

Employment prospects

The graduates of the School will carry out professional activities in the various public and private sectors of theatrical, cinematographic and television scenography, of the staging, costumes for the shows.

The Academy will organise, in agreement with public and private bodies, the most appropriate internships to contribute to the achievement of specific professional skills and will further define, for each course of study, specific training models.

Access requirements

Admission requires the possession of:

  • Diploma of upper secondary school or other qualification obtained abroad recognized as suitable by the Academy in compliance with international agreements;
  • An adequate initial preparation of the student, concerning the basic knowledge necessary for the School is verified through the entrance exams.If the examination is not positive, the Academy may indicate specific additional training obligations to be met within the first Year of the course.

 

Type of access test

The entrance exam consists of a general knowledge test, a graphic test, and an interview with the Commission. The modalities of the entrance examination are established annually by the Course Council in accordance with the regulations provided by the Academic Council.

 

Type of final test

The final exam consists of:

  • An artistic-project thesis consisting in the production of essays on a subject specifically assigned by the teacher of the course of the discipline to which the student is enrolled;
  • A thesis of historical-theoretical or methodological-plan or technical-artistic character, in the form of a short essay or didactic and/or exhibition plan, in one of the disciplines included in the curriculum or personal study plan. Any artistic production material attached to the thesis will be functional to the specific character of the thesis.
