DASL04 – SECOND LEVEL ACADEMIC DEGREE IN  GRAPHIC ART   AND PLANNING

TRAINING OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

The objectives of the second-level diploma in Art Graphics and Design provide the formation of new professional figures able to interact, in a qualified and original way, with the complex and multidisciplinary world of Graphics. The perfectioning of specialized operators develops in a course which ranges from knowledge and sperimentation of every technique, material and language of the specific area, to traditional graphic production and its promotion. Didactics include the sum of the operations inherent to graphics, therefore methods and processes used in the systematic treatment of the image and the design. The analysis is focused on phenomenons relevant to the subject, through the use of elaborations inclined to identify the possible graphic sistems, considered integral parts of representative languages, to decode and comprehend visual communication, from the standalone copy to mass production.

Proposed activities focus on the materials and traditional technical processes, either experimental or multimedial, from the preparation of the graphic product to new materials, and to the most recent procedures proposed by contemporary industry and market.

The program also included courses targeted at the elaboration and sperimentation of multimedia and contemporary graphics as a natural evolution of the didactic implemented into the corrisponding and preparatory three year program.

Didactic will be programmed by placing side by side to laboratory and theoretical lectures, seminars, exercises, interships at Companies, research insitutions or bodies.

All those who graduate in the second-level academic diploma of the graphics school must have acquired:

  • Advanced knowledge and competence in the field of Art Printing, referable to every passage of the professional path: ideation, elaboration, printing, promotion, commercialization, preparation…
  • Advanced knowledge and competence in the field of typography and publishing, including the illustration of books, catalogues and everything the market might need, including multimedia;
  • In-depth knowledge in the field of communication andexpressive research, competences that allow, through the sperimentation and elaboration of new languages, to realize effective advertising campaigns, including obviously printing campaigns;
  • Knowledge and competenced in the field of the most advanced multimedia techniques and technologies, in order to allow a highly professional occupation of the formed figures in the context of the multimedia design market;
  • Advanced knowledge that allows for the use of IT tools and electronic communication in specialized professional scopes;
  • Advanced knowledge of the theory and history of art, obtained through an educational path focused on an in-depth analysis of theories, materials and technological apparatuses of art, but also on the museum sector, to which the didactic intend to pay adequate attention;
  • Adequate knowledge and competences that allow the use of a language of the European Community such as to render the formed figures competitive on a european scale.

EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS

Graduates of the second-level of the course will perform professional activities in different sectors, both in free artistic activity and in the field of visual arts and creative activities, in relationship to the diverse possibilities of application of the acquired competences. The latter will enable second-level graduates to also enter the labor market concerning the communication, planning and realization of the most diversified values and artistic expressions, also in the international context.  For this purpose the didactic program provides the the promotion of internship or training experiences, to be carried out at companies, ateliers, highly qualified professional studios, study centers, which introduce students in the workplace and concretely favor their subsequent integration into the labor market professions. In fact, internships take the form of formative experiences of integrating the student into the production world and allow further improvement and application of the acquired skills.

The promotion of international educational experiences, which also falls within the objectives of the course, will favor inclusion in the extra-national context.

The new legal architecture of the Academies of Fine Arts, moreover, provides for a general regulation which requires a different didactic planning and converging objectives, able to build a shared strategic vision and aimed at the achievement of professionalism appropriately oriented to improve the ability to operate, in a global dimension, through internships and training activities aimed at facilitating artistic research and professional choices.

Among the employment opportunities there is also the teaching, when the conditions foreseen by the legislation in force occur.

ACCESS REQUIREMENTS

To be enrolled in the II level academic diploma course of the School of Art Graphics and Design, it is necessary to hold a first-level academic diploma from the same School or a recognized equivalent level, so a first-level diploma, academic or university, for which the recognition of an adequate number of Educational Credits is possible.

For foreign qualifications, international agreements and current regulations establish the terms for the definition of equivalences.

FINAL TEST

The final test is composed of:

  • Presentation of papers realized during the studies, selected in agreement with a teacher of the disciplines of address, apt to make evident the maturity and the originality achieved by the student during the training course;
  • A thesis of a historical-theoretical methodological or technical-artistic nature, in the form of an essay, in one of the disciplines included in the academic curriculum or in the personal study plan.
