DASL01 – SECOND LEVEL ACADEMIC DEGREE  IN PAINTING – VISUAL ARTS 

TRAINING OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

The two-year course of the II level in Visual Arts (Decoration, Painting, Sculpture) aims to train professionals specialized in the visual arts, through research activities concerning contemporary art. The educational objective is to provide specialized knowledge in the various fields of visual arts, with particular attention to theory and history, aesthetics, phenomenology and art criticism, the fields of communication and multimedia.

The ultimate aim is to encourage and develop, in the students, the ability to conceive, experiment and adopt new expressive, poetic, conceptual and technical tools.

The course includes disciplines that are configured as a natural evolution of teaching implemented in the preparatory three-year courses of Decoration, Painting and Sculpture; it includes, as characteristic courses, these three disciplines, with a view to guaranteeing students a syllabus that allows them to acquire competences in the various sectors involved, but also a preparation in the field of visual arts in general.

Teaching activities in the strict sense include, in addition to laboratories and theoretical lessons, seminars, exercises, internships with artists, art galleries, museums, institutions or research institutes.

Graduates of the II level school diploma course in Visual Arts: Decoration, Painting, Sculpture must have acquired:

  • advanced knowledge and skills in autonomous expressive research, with particular reference to contemporary artistic production;
  • advanced knowledge and application skills of traditional and experimental techniques, used in contemporary visual arts;
  • in-depth knowledge of history, aesthetics, criticism and phenomenology of contemporary arts;
  • adequate ability to integrate knowledge and draw personal and autonomous conclusions, also based on information that presupposes a deductive evolution of the project;
  • methodological tools necessary to understand and use expressive languages, techniques and the most advanced technologies.

EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS

Graduates of the single level course of the Visual Arts School (Decoration, Painting, Sculpture) will be able to carry out autonomous professional activities in the various fields of visual arts, which are spread from artistic production to consultancy for setting up and creating exhibitions in the field of contemporary art. For this purpose, the educational path includes the promotion of internship or training experiences, to be carried out in companies, ateliers, highly qualified professional studios or study centers, which introduce students in the workplace and which favor the subsequent inclusion of the same in the professions market. The internships are in fact realized in formative experiences of integration of the student in the world of artistic production and allow the further refinement and application of the acquired skills.

The promotion of international educational experiences, which also falls within the objectives of the course, will favor inclusion in the extra-national context.

Among the employment opportunities there is also the teaching, when the conditions foreseen by the current legislation are in place.

ACCESS REQUIREMENTS

To be enrolled in the II level academic diploma course of the Visual Arts School, it is necessary to hold a first-level academic diploma from the same School or a recognized equivalent level, so a first-level diploma, academic or university, for which the recognition of an adequate number of Educational Credits is possible.

For foreign qualifications, international agreements and current regulations establish the terms for the definition of equivalences.

FINAL TEST

The final test is composed of:

  • Presentation of papers realized during the studies, selected in agreement with a teacher of the disciplines of address, apt to make evident the maturity and the originality achieved by the student during the training course;
  • A thesis of a historical-theoretical methodological or technical-artistic nature, in the form of an essay, in one of the disciplines included in the academic curriculum or in the personal study plan.
